Tim Manning
Snowboarding

Accomplishments: Traveled the world with my K2 snowboard, Fist place in Kirkwoods’ banked slalom 1999, over 25 first descents in North America alone.

Residence: North Lake Tahoe—Kings Beach

Age: 28

When I’m not going huge I’m…(hobby’s, outside career goals)
Nor Cal, K2 and Double-up wakeboard representative.

What tunes get you psyched?
Rap, scratchin', old punk, and say ten things.

What is your Favorite place to shred, climb…?
Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley, Valdez, and Jackson Hole.

Where is your favorite place to kick back, relax, and forget about everything?
Right in my baby's arms—Yeah!!

At what age did you begin your sport?
12

What was your worse sport related injury, and how did you get it?
ACL-Going huge on Mt. Hood kickers to flat.

What was your biggest influence that got you where you are now?
Being a part of the K2 snowboard team and friends around home.

What pisses you off?
When I'm late to the mountain, and also Drippers.

If you could initiate a change in your field, what would it be, and who would you want to influence?
I would make it so peoples’ bodies would never get old, and age would be looked forward to.

In what ways has the popularity of extreme sports changed the way you operate?
Extreme—Expleem—I hate that word.

As the popularity of your sport grows are there any issues for newcomers that, as an experienced professional, you feel need to be addressed? What types of actions and attitudes are going to effect your sport in positive ways?
Ski Patrol needs to just relax!!! Resorts need to maintain half-pipes and parks. Jumps in the park need to have huge landings, and create big air potential.

There must be some negative issues surrounding your sport (i.e. safety, land management)? What sticks out in your mind, and do you have any suggestions to control or minimize these circumstances?
No, well maybe too much day glo is still on the hill. Well that’s sort of cool though!!

What do you see in your future, and the where would you like to see your sport be at in 5 to 10 years?
Riders will go at least 200-ft minimum for freestyle contests.

If you could relate one idea to the world, related to your sport or not, what would it be?
Whatever the sport may be, someone gets just about the same stoke I get from snowboarding. That should be enough to give props for any sport going on...except rollerblading, and snowblading.
