We launched into good size surf upon leaving Buena Vista. Jason took some good breakers in the face, but stayed upright. Once past the breaks he waited for me to meet him. The wind was howling with immense chop throwing us in every direction. It was slow moving for the two of us. I pushed Jason along as he braced continually to keep from getting rolled. We paddled big seas for over four hours. I wanted to round Punta Arena, which was a long spit of sand off the coast that provided a good wind block for camping. We finally rounded the point and both landed. We dragged our boats up the beach and fell into exhaustion. If the weather kept up like this we would have to paddle very hard to make good progress. We camped that night just on the other side of Punta Arena and knew tomorrow would be no better. We crashed out of exhaustion before the sun even went down. Jason was holding up like a champ and I was very impressed at his ability so far. I felt comfortable with him in big water.
